Our Techniques
At Cruise Chiropractic we use many different techniques that are highly effective at treating conditions of the neuromusculoskeletal system. We believe everyone is different and so your care will be tailored to suit you and your needs. Below are the techniques we use most often.

Chiropractic Adjustments
Chiropractic Adjustments are great at releasing "stuck joints" that interfere with your body's nervous system. Your chiropractor will place their hands over an affected joint and apply a short controlled thrust. This will often be accompanied by a "popping" sound, which is often relieving but not essential for the effectiveness of the treatment.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is great at releasing "knots of muscle" that restrict your body's mobility and cause local and referred pain. Your chiropractor will apply pressure to a specific part of the muscle. This may feel tender at first, but after about 30 seconds you will start to feel the muscle relax and the Trigger Point beginning to ease.
Flexion-Distraction Technique
Flexion-Distraction is great at treating back pain and relieving slipped discs. It is a unique method of providing traction to the spine, decompressing the discs, relieving trapped nerves and stretching out tight muscles and ligaments. This usually lasts for 5-10 minutes and is often found to be very relaxing.
Thompson Drop Technique
Thompson Drops are great at releasing the sacroiliac joints in the lower back. While you are lying on your front, the bench below your pelvis will be lifted up by a couple of centimeters and then quickly drop back down again as the chiropractor applies a gentle thrust. This helps loosen the joints and at the same time reduces the amount of force needed to do so.
Activator Technique
Activator Technique is great at managing tight knots of muscle and restricted joints. The chiropractor will place the tip of the Activator device against the affected area and apply a few gentle impulses to help get your muscles and joints moving more freely again. It is also very good for people with osteoporosis who can't have Chiropractic Adjustments.

Lifestyle Managements is essential to all our other chiropractic techniques. We want you to be able to look after yourself better in the future and so we give as much lifestyle advice as possible. Whether it is nutrition, sleeping habits or home exercises, we target all of our advice that will specifically help you for now and in the future.
